EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — El Paso Animal Services is hosting its third community Spay-A-Thon of the year this weekend, bringing additional low-cost spay and neuter resources to pet owners through a partnership with Operation Kindness Humane Society.
The three-day clinic will provide spay and neuter surgeries for dogs and cats in El Paso, helping prevent unwanted litters while supporting the long-term health and well-being of pets.
According to El Paso Animal Services, all surgery appointments have already been filled.
The clinic is funded through a grant awarded to Operation Kindness Humane Society by the Texas Department of State Health Services’ Spay/Neuter Program, which supports communities with high needs for pet sterilization services.
Operation Kindness is also covering the travel and staffing costs for the veterinary team providing surgeries during the event.
Although pet owners are receiving these procedures at little or no cost, El Paso Animal Services noted that the surgeries require significant resources, including medical supplies, specialized equipment, and licensed veterinary professionals traveling from outside the region.
Animal Services officials say community support remains important for expanding access to future programs.
Donations help offset operational costs and support efforts to reduce pet overpopulation, prevent unwanted litters, and decrease the number of animals entering the city’s shelter system.
While this weekend’s appointments are no longer available, the agency said the response demonstrates the continued need for affordable spay and neuter services in El Paso.
