CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — UPDATE: A large crane overturned in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 37 Southbound Friday evening, causing major traffic delays. The far left lane was initially the only lane open as crews worked to respond to the crash. According to TxDOT, the highway will remain shut down for approximately one more hour while crews continue clearing the scene. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area, use alternate routes and use caution when traveling through the area.

Drivers traveling on Interstate 37 Southbound should expect significant delays after a major single-vehicle crash involving a large truck.

According to police, officers are responding to the crash in the 12700 to 12800 block of I-37 Southbound.

Authorities said the crash involves a single large truck. At this time, the far left lane is the only lane open to traffic while emergency crews work at the scene.

The extent of any injuries has not been released, and it is unclear what caused the crash.

Motorists are encouraged to slow down, use caution when traveling through the area and consider alternate routes until the scene is cleared.
