North Texas will be gripped by extreme heat through the remainder of the week.
The National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office is anticipating that dangerous heat will bake the region for the foreseeable future, keeping temperatures in the triple digits and raising the “feels like” as high as 115.
The weather service issued a heat advisory Monday, currently set to expire at 8 p.m. Tuesday, but the advisory is reportedly likely to continue throughout the week.
Tuesday’s high is forecast by the weather service to be 104 degrees, with a heat index, or “feels like” temperature, of 109.
Temperatures will climb further Wednesday to as high as 106 degrees, according to the weather service, with a heat index of up to 115.
Triple-digit heat is set to close out the week, with Thursday’s high forecast for 102 degrees, Friday’s for 103 degrees and Saturday’s 101 degrees.
Dangerous heat is set to be accompanied by near-zero precipitation chances, sunny skies and a light breeze, according to the weather service. Humidity will remain moderate throughout the week.
Heat exhaustion is characterized by dehydration, thirst, sweating, nausea and weakness, according to the CDC. Should you exhibit these symptoms, the CDC recommends moving to a cool area and drinking water before seeking medical attention if symptoms do not improve.
Heat stroke is deadly and warrants calling 911 immediately, according to the CDC. Symptoms of heat stroke are confusion, dizziness and becoming unconscious.
According to the weather service, 104 degrees was the hottest temperature recorded in Dallas-Fort Worth last summer. In 2024, temperatures reached 107 degrees.
