A man suspected of non-fatally shooting a Jacksonville police officer was arrested Wednesday night after joining the Texas Most Wanted list, and Gov. Greg Abbott announcing a reward for information leading to his arrest earlier this week.
Bobby Michael Dennis, 64, was arrested by officers around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday after officers searched a property west of Jacksonville city limits, according to a news release from Jacksonville police.
Dennis was found in a wooded area near the property. Police said they used the handcuffs of the officer Dennis is accused of shooting to detain him and take him to the Cherokee County jail.
Dennis faces an attempted murder charge after police said he shot a Jacksonville officer on Sunday, then fled. As multiple agencies searched for the man, he was added to the Texas 10 Most Wanted list, and Gov. Abbot announced a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest.

Abbott mentioned in the reward announcement that Dennis is not only accused of shooting and wounding an officer, but a K9 as well.
“Texas is a law-and-order state, and the dangerous criminal who attacked a Jacksonville Police Officer and their K-9 will experience the full weight of justice brought against him,” Abbott said in the release.
The wounded officer was flown to a Tyler hospital and is in stable condition, according to the release. No information has been provided by officials regarding the condition of the K9.
Dennis also faces charges of obstruction or retaliation and interference with a police service animal.
