RaceTrac is investing $20 million to remodel 30 of its Dallas-Fort Worth area convenience stores. The remodeled stores place an emphasis on foodservice and have already started reopening.

The remodeled stores started reopening in early May, and one to three stores will continue opening each week through the end of the year, the Atlanta-based c-store chain said on Monday. 

The project marks RaceTrac’s largest investment in the Dallas-Fort Worth market and reflects the company’s broader strategy of transforming its stores into food-first destinations, RaceTrac said. 

Each remodeled store will feature a full grab-and-go pizza bar, a redesigned coffee area including six blends of RaceTrac’s Crazy Good Coffee and a refreshed Swirl World frozen yogurt bar. Stores also have updated interior graphics, signage, paint and décor, plus reorganized shelving designed to make the store easier to shop, RaceTrac said. 

“Dallas-Fort Worth has been home to RaceTrac for decades, and our guests deserve the very best of what our brand has to offer,” said Melanie Isbill, president of convenience retail at RaceTrac. “With these remodels, we’re bringing a fresh store experience, new food offerings and the full RaceTrac pizza bar to DFW. This is about showing up for our guests in a bigger way, right where they already live, work and drive.”

Some stores will remain open through construction while others going through more extensive remodels will temporarily close. The remodeled stores span the greater Dallas-Fort Worth area, and include stores in McKinney, Melissa, Denton, Duncanville, Waxahachie, Weatherford, Garland and Wylie, Texas. 

RaceTrac, a family-owned company operating since 1934, has more than 850 RaceTrac and RaceWay retail locations. It also has about 1,200 Gulf-branded locations and more than 445 Potbelly sandwich shops throughout the United States.
