ARLINGTON — The update is that there isn’t a significant update, and at the moment, that can cautiously be considered good news.
“We keep progressing days in a row, volume and everything else,” Seager said, “so we’ll see how it responds.”
Rangers manager Skip Schumaker classified the previous two days as a “heavy workload” in comparison to the week prior and was pleased with how Seager responded. Seager estimated that Monday’s session was his most “explosive” one yet. It was the fourth of a seven-day build-up period after which, so long as Seager does not report any setbacks, the Rangers will reevaluate and determine the next steps.
“It’s just always day to day,” Schumaker said. “That’s always the hope, but as we all know, things can change pretty quickly.”
The 32-year-old has played just nine games since June 5 and upon completion of the White Sox series will have officially missed half of the club’s games this season. He acknowledged Monday that while he does feel an urgency to return, especially with the trade deadline two weeks away, he believes a cautious build up is the “right thing to do” to avoid further setbacks.
“I have no idea,” Seager said when asked if there was a target return date. “I would love to be able to give you that.”
