Downtown Plano gained a new Urban concept this week with Patty Lou’s Smashburgers at 1000 14th Street.

The Urban Family has added a new concept to their Downtown Plano lineup. Patty Lou’s Smashburger is a neighborhood burger joint inspired by the eponymous Western swing performer.

Patty Lou Peters was a Western Swing performer in Texas during the 1940s and 1950s and the mother of Urban Family Concepts co-founder Bonnie Shea.

“For years, my goal was simply to make sure my mother’s story wasn’t forgotten,” Shea said. “Seeing people walk into Patty Lou’s, hear her music, and learn who she was is more than I ever imagined. I hope every guest leaves with a full stomach and a deeper appreciation for the music that inspired many during those difficult years and for generations to come.”

The restaurant features vintage photographs, memorabilia, an original guitar, interactive QR codes and a custom mural of Patty Lou herself. The menu includes never-frozen Black Gold Ranch wagyu beef smashburgers, fries, milkshakes, sandwiches, local beer and cocktails.

Urban Family Concepts includes Urban Crust, Urban Rio Cantina & Grill and Urban Seafood Company.

Patty Lou’s is located at 1000 14th St.
