Recalls have been in the news for one reason or another, and the latest pullback on food products might affect children more than others. PT Organics Limited, a company based in Oregon, has issued a recall of a specific lot of fruit snack pouches sold across the United States due to an unintended ingredient.
The recall, published on Tuesday, July 21, identified 4-ounce Pumpkin Tree Peter Rabbit Organics Banana & Strawberry pouches that may contain strands of plastic. The company‘s announcement stated that an internal packaging defect is responsible for the likely presence of plastic particles. If you have purchased the Pumpkin Tree Peter Rabbit Organics Banana & Strawberry pouches, there are a few important codes you can use to determine whether they are part of the recall.
Recalled product codes include barcode 8 15367 01078 0, lane number 4 and a few best-before dates in 2027, including January 19, January 20, March 17, March 18, May 14 and May 15. These codes were included on the packaging in blank ink on the backside of the pouches, according to PT Organics Limited’s company announcement. The products were sold nationwide at Kroger, Meijer and Target stores.
As of July 21, no injuries were reported in connection with the recall, and no other Pumpkin Tree items were implicated. Although the strands found in some pouches were considered soft, food-grade plastic, customers should still toss out or return the fruit snack pouches if they are among those named in the recall.
