This latest H-E-B opening brings years of anticipation to an end for residents of Murphy and its neighboring communities.
The new grocery store, located at 740 FM 544 and McCreary Road, opened at 6 a.m. Wednesday, July 22 to a crowd that began gathering hours before the opening.
“Our amazing partners are excited to join this vibrant community and have been eager to serve customers in the southeastern quadrant of Collin County,” said Juan-Carlos Ruck, H-E-B Executive Vice President for North West Food and Drug Operations and Real Estate. “We hope to earn the loyalty of local families through the pride and dedication our partners bring to the store every single day.”
Shoppers can get their sushi, fresh fruits, cakes, charcuterie board items, barbecue, groceries, medication, fresh flowers and more at the store.
The store features a True Texas BBQ Restaurant, curbside and home delivery service and a full-service pharmacy with a drive-thru, as well as a gas station and car wash.
The store also has other products and services, including:
A deli department with a large cheese selection and charcuterie islandAn extensive craft beer and wine section with a sampling stationCooking Connection with live demonstrations and samplings for easy recipes to make at homeMeat market with prime, natural, and organic meats, wagyu and fully cooked optionsBlooms floral department, offering online ordering and delivery serviceHealthy Living department with bulk food items, sports nutrition products and supplements and a large frozen food selection.
H-E-B also donated $10,000 each to four local charities: Camp iHope, Agape Resource & Assistance Center, Bed Start and 5 Loaves Ministries.
The Murphy store is 116,000 square feet and is one of 13 new H-E-B stores in the DFW Metroplex. The store is open daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
The Murphy Police Department asked residents and visitors in a Facebook post to prepare for more traffic in the area in the coming days during peak travel times.
“We are excited to host this awesome addition to our community,” the department said on social media. “Please allow extra time for your trip, watch for pedestrians and follow all traffic control directions, as everyone adjusts to the new traffic patterns.”
H-E-B has expanded into the Metroplex, by opening stores in Allen, Euless, Frisco, Fort Worth’s Alliance, Mansfield, Prosper, Rockwall, Forney and Melissa. There are also three Joe V’s Smart Shops and six Central Market stores in the region.
Last summer, H-E-B announced it is building a second Fort Worth location, after Alliance, in the Walsh development off Interstate 20 just west of the Parker County line.
H-E-B, with headquarters in San Antonio, operates more than 455 stores in Texas and Mexico and employs more than 175,000 people.
