The food permit of a Plano restaurant was temporarily suspended due to sewage issues during the latest round of city health inspections, according to the inspection reports.
The reports compiled by the Star-Telegram contain data on health violations from 79 inspections between July 5 and July 11.
Plano’s health inspections function on a 100-point scale, where a score of 100 is considered perfect and a score of 70 is considered extremely poor. Each establishment receives between one and four routine inspections per year.
Love & War In Texas at 601 E. Plano Parkway scored 50 and was temporarily closed after health inspectors observed the restaurant had inadequate sewage disposal facilities. Inspectors also noted that food was stored at unsafe temperatures, and food was discarded. The food establishment permit was suspended and all business operations were ordered to stop. The restaurant reopened after a follow-up inspection and scored 93.
The food preparation area at Walmart Supercenter at 425 Coit Road was temporarily closed until the three-compartment sink was repaired and a drainage issue was corrected.
At Freshlygo inside Walmart, 425 Coit Road, health inspectors noted that a representative was present during the inspection but lacked food protection manager certification. The eatery was temporarily closed until the three-compartment sink was repaired for proper warewashing. Score 65.
Food held outside required temperature ranges can allow bacteria to grow, which is why inspectors require restaurants to discard affected foods rather than save or reuse them. Food were discarded from six establishments due to improper storage temperatures:
Aaharva Taste The Tradition at 2108 Dallas Parkway, Suite 228. Rice and chicken products were between 99F and 122F. The employee discarded the products on site. Score: 81.
Lover’s Eggroll at 5960 W. Parker Road, Suite 260. Cooked chicken was observed at 99F after three hours of cooling. The employee discarded all products not at required temps at the time of inspection. Score: 84.
Qdoba Mexican Grill at 6505 W. Park Blvd., Suite 340. Food from the front serving cooler was observed at 50F to 51F. The person in charge discarded all products from the cooler. Score: 84.
Taqueria El Chino at 2716 K Ave. A cooked food item in the reach-in cooler had an internal temperature of 48F while being held in cold holding. The manager discarded the food item before the inspection ended. Score 85.
Chef Sun’s Noodle & Dumpling at 3131 Custer Road, Suite 182. Cooked broccoli was stored on the prep table at 57F and was later discarded. Score: 86.
Gazeebo Burger at 6009 W. Parker Road, Suite 165. Diced tomatoes on the dining room salad bar had an internal temperature of 62F and were discarded during the inspection. Score: 88.
Walmart at 6000 Coit Road. Lunch meats were found at 44F to 46F, and macaroni salad was found at 46F. The manager voluntarily discarded about 10 pounds of lunch meat and macaroni salad stored above 41F. Score: 91.
