The Dallas Wings host the Atlanta Dream on Wednesday, July 29 at the College Park Center in Arlington.
WNBA All-Star Starters Jessica Shepard and Paige Bueckers both shined in their last game before the break, a win over the Portland Fire. Shepard posted her fourth triple-double of the season; she’s the only player with multiple. Bueckers scored 21 points in her return from a 1-game absence after hitting her head Sunday night against the Los Angeles Sparks.
Rookie number one overall pick, Azzi Fudd, made three three-pointers to build momentum headed into the 3-point contest on Friday during the All-Star festivities. Before the game, Portland’s Bridget Carleton was honored by the home fans for making the competition along with Fudd, Toronto’s Marina Mabrey, Atlanta’s Rhyne Howard, Seattle’s Natisha Hiedeman and Golden State’s Janelle Salaun. Fudd is the only rookie competing in the event. Fudd becomes the first Wings player to participate in an All-Star skills event since Arike Ogunbowale competed in the 3-point contest in 2023. She tied for runner-up.
The Wings play the Fire one more time in Arlington on Aug. 25 to decide the season series.
The Wings have won seven of their last eight and nine of their last 12 after starting 9-6.
The Wings are 8-6 in the Western Conference.
The Wings currently have the fourth-best record in the league; the top eight teams make the playoffs. The Wings have 17 games remaining in their WNBA regular season. Only eight of the Wings’ remaining games are against teams with winning records: Atlanta (16-10), Washington (14-12), Golden State (19-8), Minnesota (22-6), and Indiana (17-10). The Wings play Washington, Golden State, and Indiana twice before the season ends. Their last seven games of the season are against teams with a losing record.
The Wings have two more games at the American Airlines Center in Dallas this season: Aug. 7 against Golden State and Aug. 20, when Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever come to town.
