HASLET – Peggy Kathleen Nunes, a woman of deep faith, boundless creativity, and infectious humor, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, just days after celebrating her 87th birthday. Funeral Service: 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Interment: 2 p.m. at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Peggy was born on July 7, 1939, in Morgantown, West Virginia, to the late Carl and Mary Ardella Harber. Her life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, laughter, and adventure. Peggy’s greatest lifelong journey began at church, where she met the love of her life, Joseph Nunes. Their shared devotion to faith laid the foundation for a remarkable marriage that spanned 67 loving years. As a proud Air Force wife, Peggy embraced the military lifestyle with grace, resilience, and a sense of wonder. Together, she and Joseph traveled the globe, creating homes and gathering cherished memories in locations ranging from the tropical breezes of Hawaii, the historic landscapes of Germany, to the coasts of California, the heart of Mississippi, and many stops in between. No matter where the Air Force stationed them, Peggy possessed a rare gift for making any house feel like a sanctuary where everyone felt welcome. Blessed with an extraordinary creative eye and a passion for crafting, she delighted in transforming her home for every season and holiday. Her attention to detail and flair for decorating were so impeccable that her family often proudly remarked that her home looked as though it had stepped right off the pages of a Better Homes and Gardens magazine. Beyond her warmth as a homemaker, Peggy will be remembered most for her radiant spirit, and her quick, sparkling wit. An avid reader with a wide appreciation for literature, she found her greatest solace in faith-based books and her greatest joy in humor. Peggy was the undisputed storyteller of her circle, always armed with a clever quip or hilarious joke. Her friends and family eagerly anticipated their visits, regularly asking her, “Peggy, have you heard any new ones lately?”-and she never failed to deliver a punchline that filled the room with laughter. Peggy leaves behind a vibrant legacy of devotion, joy, and family tradition. Peggy is survived by her beloved husband, Joseph Nunes; her son, Donald Nunes and his wife, LaVerne; her daughters, Sherry Arnold and her husband, Lynn, and Sharon Bos and her husband, Peter. Her memory, her faith, and her stories will live on through her 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and a wide circle of extended family and friends who were blessed to know and love her.
