First Baptist Church in Corpus Christi continues its annual summer tradition of taking its Sunday worship to the coast, hosting a community beach baptism, and fellowship gathering on the Texas shore. The event, held on a designated Sunday each summer, brings together congregation members, families, and friends of all ages to celebrate new believers. A few weeks ahead of time, church organizers select an accessible local beach featuring nearby parking facilities. On the day of the event, leaders mark the gathering spot with the church’s flag and post specific location landmarks and mile markers on social media to help arriving attendees find the group. The ceremony begins on the shore with a joint prayer. Following the prayer, the pastor guides candidates into the water to perform individual baptisms, offering attendees a chance to celebrate personal faith transformations against the backdrop of the coast. Once the baptism ceremonies conclude, the event transitions into an afternoon of community recreation. Attendees stay at the beach to swim, play in the sand, socialize, and fellowship together until sunset. Brian Hill is the senior pastor.
