CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Corpus Christi Police Department (CCPD) is hosting its annual National Night Out on Tuesday, October 7, starting at 4 p.m. at the 7-Eleven located at 4130 S. Alameda.
CCPD Crime Prevention Specialist Melissa M. Castro encourages community members to come out and get to know their local police.
“Our community works so well with our officers. We’re trying to promote that we do not want anyone to be a victim of any crime, and the best way to do that is to make sure everyone knows what’s going on. If you see something, say something.”
Castro said the department is promoting a self-environment within the community. A night out to meet your local officers and ways to find out about how you can make a difference by volunteering, being part of a neighborhood watch.
Castro notes that for those interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement, they offer a program that provides training to young adults aged 14–20. For more information on the Corpus Christi Police Explorer Program, click here.
