To mark its July 24 debut, the California-based chain is offering buy-one-get-one-free meals all day
Ono Hawaiian BBQ officially opened its first Texas restaurant on July 24 in Plano, bringing the California-born fast-casual chain to the Lone Star State for the first time. Located at 8724 Preston Road, the restaurant is the first of several Texas locations planned as the company expands beyond its longtime home markets.
Hawaiian Plate Lunches Arrive in North Texas
Founded in California more than 20 years ago, Ono Hawaiian BBQ has built a loyal following with its take on traditional Hawaiian plate lunches. Each entrée is made fresh daily and served with the classic combination of two scoops of rice and macaroni salad.
Local Profile got an early taste of the menu ahead of opening day. Standout dishes include the BBQ chicken, BBQ beef, Kalbi short ribs and Spam musubi, while the house-made sauces — including teriyaki and katsu — add plenty of flavor.
Guests can also order favorites such as island fire chicken, Kalua pork, chicken katsu, crispy shrimp and island white fish.

The Plano location also features a drive-thru for diners looking to grab a meal on the go.
A Long-Awaited Texas Debut
The Plano restaurant marks a major milestone for the brand, which has operated exclusively in California and Arizona until now.

According to the company, Plano is only the beginning. Additional Texas locations are already in the works as Ono Hawaiian BBQ continues its national expansion.
