A fast-casual seafood chain has opened a restaurant in Arlington that is unlike any other: Captain D’s, which is the leading fast-casual seafood restaurant in the U.S., has opened a location at 1750 N. Bardin Rd. #100 that is a first-of-its-kind design for the chain.

The newly built end-cap restaurant is a 1,822-square-foot space with a 34-seat dining room. Here’s what makes it first-of-its-kind: It has drive-thru walk-out doors. The drive-through window has sliding doors that open, so that an employee doesn’t reach through a window, forcing the poor hapless driver to reach for his food — instead, employees can take that extra step and walk the order to the driver’s window.

Captain D’s serves a wide variety of seafood that includes the company’s signature batter dipped fish. Their menu features a variety of fried fish plates and combo plates such as their catfish & shrimp, with one catfish fillet breaded in their Southern-style breading and five butterfly shrimp, served with hush puppies and choice of side.

Sides include French fries, coleslaw, mac & cheese, baked potato, fried okra, green beans, corn on the cob, or steamed broccoli.

Prices range from $7 to $14 depending on how many catfish fillets and how many combos you order. The restaurants will also do the seafood grilled including salmon and whitefish, and there’s a chicken tenders option, as well.

Desserts include cheesecake and “funnelcake sticks” and beverages include Southern-style sweet tea, a Captain D’s signature.

The new location is from longtime franchise owner Lisa Starnes, who has been part of the Captain D’s family for more than 31 years. This marks her eighth Captain D’s location and her first new store opening in 15 years.

“After 31 years with Captain D’s, I’m more excited than ever to open a new restaurant,” Starnes says in a statement. “Arlington is a vibrant, fast-growing community, and I’m proud to bring Captain D’s high-quality seafood and friendly service to this area.”

Headquartered in Nashville, Captain D’s has more than 530 restaurants in 23 states. That includes 10 locations in the DFW area: Forest Hills, East Dallas, Mesquite, Garland, Grand Prairie, Euless, Duncanville, Plano, and Cedar Hill.
