AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller will host a rally Monday at the Texas Capitol calling for a pause on the development of new hyperscale data centers.
The rally, titled “Press Pause on Hyperscale Data Centers,” will begin at 9 a.m. in support of protecting Texas agricultural communities.
According to Miller, the rally will focus on protecting the state’s water supply and electric grid. He has called on state leaders, including Gov. Greg Abbott, to take immediate action to ensure Texas farmers, ranchers and rural communities are not forced to bear the costs of recent data center growth.
Abbott has also said he opposes data centers.
Other speakers will join Miller during the rally.
