A man shot and killed his ex-girlfriend and her older brother in front of a toddler in north Houston before he was arrested on Sunday, authorities said.
The shooting occurred on the 200 block of West Canino Road, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said in a post on X at about 12:40 p.m. Charges were pending against a suspect believed to be 19, whose identity has not been released, according to the sheriff’s office.
The female victim was 17 years old, and her older brother was 29, according to law enforcement.
“Today’s tragedy is another heartbreaking reminder of how quickly domestic violence can escalate into deadly violence,” Gonzalez wrote on X.

The suspect allegedly emerged with a gun when the girl walked outside of her trailer to hand her toddler to a family member, HCSO Major Ben Katrib said during a press briefing. An argument ensued.
Her older brother stepped outside to deescalate the confrontation and moved in front of his sister to shield her from her ex-boyfriend, according to Gonzalez.
The suspect then shot the siblings and left the scene in a vehicle. The brother and sister were pronounced dead at the scene, and the toddler was unharmed, according to the sheriff’s office.
The suspect was later found in the 8800 block of Will Clayton Parkway in Humble, Gonzalez said, and was arrested.
