TEXAS — As homes are mucked and gutted, residents and volunteers are continuing the long process of sifting through debris, belongings and other items after Central Texas floods.
One volunteer told Spectrum News that he and his wife have been in Central Texas since last July, helping rebuild the communities hit hardest these last 12 months. Now, they are starting back at square one.
Claudia Garcia is another volunteer returning after last year’s flood. She says that right now it’s about asking people what they need, as many are still processing losing everything.
Garcia has been to multiple homes to move debris, sort belongings and lend a listening ear. After last year, Garcia said she knows they will be able to help rebuild again.
“We just finished two months ago, with the help because we thought it was done,” Garcia explained. “We know we can do it again; we did it once. We can do it twice.”
