FRIENDSWOOD – Dora Alicia Martinez, 73, was called home to be with the Lord on July 21, 2026, in Webster, Texas. Dora was surrounded by her loved ones. Rosary & Visitation: 6 – 8 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2026, in Greenwood’s Live Oak Chapel, 3100 White Settlement Rd., Fort Worth, Texas 76107. Funeral Service: 12 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026, in Greenwood’s Live Oak Chapel; followed by an interment in Greenwood Memorial Park. Dora was born on Oct. 14, 1952, in New Braunfels, Texas, to Frederico D. Carrillo and Jackie F. Carrillo. She was a resident of Fort Worth and was the 4th oldest of five children. Dora met and married Jose M. Martinez Jr. on Dec. 20, 1975, and lived her life in Galveston, Texas. Her interest in nursing began at age 14 when she worked in a nursing home in Fort Worth. She started out in healthcare working in pediatrics with Dr. Sally Robinson. Dora dedicated her life as a nurse as an LVN and went on to get her bachelor’s in nursing in 2008. She worked for UTMB as a Dialysis nurse for 37 years and after retiring from UTMB, continued to work two more years for Fresenius and Davita Dialysis clinics. Dora loved her job as a nurse and touched the lives of her patients and colleagues and friends who worked with her. She loved her family and loved to spoil her granddaughters. Dora loved to watch football and baseball and rooted for the Houston Astros each season. She enjoyed going to dances, being around family, and she loved to visit Louisiana and the casinos when she could. Dora had four beautiful granddaughters, three great-granddaughters and a great-grandson. Dora loved her family very much. Dora is proceeded in death by her son, Jose M. Martinez III; parents, Fred and Jackie Carrillo; sister, Cynthia Alba; brother, Fred D. Carrillo Jr.; and her maternal and paternal grandparents. She is survived by her husband, Jose M. Martinez Jr.; daughter, Shaymayne Martinez; granddaughters, Juana and her husband, Alex Chavez, Angela Bravo and her husband, Jose Bravo, Katherine Martinez, and Samantha Martinez; daughter-in-law, Mirtha Martinez; sisters, Odelia Small and Mary Castillo; and many nieces and nephews.
