This week, Arlington will experience highs in the 100s and lows in the 80s.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Tom Bradshaw said this is likely to be one of the warmest periods in North Texas for the summer.
The heat advisory is until Tuesday; however, Bradshaw said it will likely be extended through the week. He said the afternoon heat indices are above 105 to 110.
“In addition to the hot temperatures, we have a fair amount of humidity in the air,” he said. “It actually feels several degrees warmer, and so that’s just adding to the impact on people.”
For people going out, he said to avoid going out during the hottest times of the day and stay out of the sun as much as possible.
“If you have to be out, obviously, drink plenty of fluids,” he said. “Dress in a way that reflects the light but also provides a lot of ventilation.”
