Texas-based Shipley Donuts is teaming up with a South Dallas nonprofit to open a new shop with a community-focused mission.

The nonprofit SouthFair Community Development Corp. will be the landlord and tenant of the shop. It will be led by the nonprofit’s CEO, Annie Evans, Shipley’s first nonprofit franchisee, according to a news release.

“At Shipley, we believe that great donuts have the power to bring people together,” Shipley Donuts CEO Flynn Dekker said in a statement. “This partnership with SouthFair reflects and expands upon our nearly 90-year-old legacy of investing in people and communities.”

The shop is expected to open by the end of 2026 at 2807 Al Lipscomb Way as part of the Malcolm’s Point retail development.

“We’re proud to be part of the growth happening in South Dallas’ Malcolm’s Point area,” Dekker said, “and to support efforts that create lasting local opportunity.”

Shipley Donuts was founded in Houston in 1936 and now has more than 390 restaurants nationwide. The brand is known for its hot glazed doughnuts, handmade kolaches and dozens of doughnut varieties, including filled, iced and cake doughnuts.

A portion of the South Dallas franchise’s revenue will go toward helping support neighborhood programs and local economic initiatives, according to the release.

SouthFair, led by Evans for more than 15 years, has “helped drive South Dallas revitalization for more than three decades,” the release said.

“Partnering with a legacy brand like Shipley is all about creating opportunity for our community,” Evans said in a statement. “This franchise agreement gives our community a seat at the table and a chance to reinvest in its own future.”
