A 47-year-old man riding a motorcycle was killed after crashing into an 18-wheeler in Arlington on Saturday, police said.
The motorcyclist was identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s office as Luis A. Mendez.
Officers responded to the crash about 9 p.m. in the 3900 block of Avenue E East, Arlington police said in a news release.
Investigators determined that the driver of the 18-wheeler was attempting to turn left out of a store parking lot onto Avenue E as a motorcycle traveling eastbound was coming around a curve in the road, police said.
The motorcycle crashed with the side of the 18-wheeler and both the Mendez and a female passenger were thrown from the bike, according to police.
Mendez was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, police said. The passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries but declined to be taken to the hospital.
The driver of the 18-wheeler remained on scene and was cooperative with the investigation, according to police.
Police said the investigation is ongoing, but no criminal charges are expected to be filed.
