LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Lubbock-area organizations, churches and local business are hosting free back-to-school events giving families multiple opportunities across the city to get ready for the upcoming school year.
Saturday, August 1Citywide Back-2-School Bash
10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center
This free, family-friendly event will provide 8,000 K–12 students with clear backpacks and basic school supplies. Backpacks will be distributed on a first come, first served basis while supplies last. Children must be present to receive a backpack.
In addition to school supplies, the event will feature a community resource fair where families can connect with local organizations and learn about services that support student success across West Texas.
As part of the event, the City of Lubbock Public Health Department will be providing Immunization Record Assistance. No immunizations will be administered on-site, but parents can come and learn what shots their children need and receive information on where they can go to get them.
Glow Stick Dance Back-to-School Bash
Doors open at 6:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Cafeteria located @ 1305. W. Division Street
Lake Ridge Chapel Community School Supply Drive
12:00 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Lake Ridge Chapel located @ 6025 82nd Street
All donations will benefit local students in the community.
Back-to-School Haul
Afterglow Detail Service is collection donations from Monday, July 20 through Friday, July 31. Back-to-school giveaway will be Saturday, August 1.
Donations needed include: backpacks, school supplies, notebooks, pens and pencils, crayons and markers, folders, glue and scissors. Donations can be dropped of @ 3520 Woodrow Road Suite 152.
Back-to-School Picnic
1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. @ Clapp Park located at 46th Street and Avenue U.
2151 Hari Lounge & LocTrap are hosting the 1st annual Back-to-School Picnic. Organizers are looking for volunteers to help give out school supplies, give out food and help with games.
Food donations include: burgers, hot dogs, drinks and chips.
School supply donations include: Backpacks, notebooks, pencils, pens, crayons, markers, glue sticks, folders, scissors, rulers, erasers and more.

Amtex Insurance Backpack Giveaway
Amtex Insurance will be giving out backpacks with school supplies, free hot dogs, chips, cookies and bottled water at 1902 34eth Street from noon until supplies last.
Red Dirt Motorcycles Back-to-School Event
Join us at Max Home Furnishings located @ 2014 50th Street for food vendors and school supply giveaway from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Backpacks & Flapjacks
6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at IHOP 1627 University
Join us in collecting donations on behalf of the Patterson Library to support literacy, learning and community engagement. Including: Hotdogs, face painting, school supplies, music and photos.

The KCI Center, Kingdom Center International and God’s Plan Mobile Barber are partnering to provide free services to the community. Free haircuts for students to start the school year and free back-to-school clothing for students and families.
Super Summer Health Fair
9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the YWCA located @ 6501 University Avenue
Combest Central Community Health Center invites you to its 4th annual Super Summer Health Fair. Health care providers on site, get updated on immunizations, free health information, resources, activities and more.
Community Outreach Back-to-School Bash
11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Worship Center located @ 1102 70th Street. Free haircuts, free school supplies and free food for the community.
Sunday, August 9 School supply giveaway in memory of Kobe Lee
3:00 p.m. until supplies are gone at Eliora Beauty Lounge
If you’re in need of school supplies, come out to Eliora Beauty Lounge
We will be distributing all the supplies we have collected for the 2026-2027 school year. We will have school supplies until supplies are gone. Child must be present to receive supplies.
