LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The heat wave is settling in across the region today as temperatures climb into the triple digits once again.
KCBD(KCBD)
A Heat Advisory is in effect from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. for areas off the Caprock, where highs are expected to reach near 106°. While areas on the Caprock may see slightly lower temperatures, triple-digit highs are still expected across the entire forecast area.
KCBD(KCBD)
The extreme heat is being driven by a large upper-level ridge of high pressure that will continue to dominate the region throughout the week, keeping skies sunny and temperatures dangerously hot.
KCBD(KCBD)
Hot and mostly dry conditions will persist through the weekend. A very low chance of storms returns Thursday through Saturday, don’t count on rain to break the heat.
KCBD(KCBD)
We still expect more of the same hot, dry weather day after day. During our Heat Advisory, limit time outdoors, especially during peak heating hours in the afternoon. Drink plenty of water, check on elderly neighbors and pets, and never leave children or animals in parked vehicles. Wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing and use sunscreen.
