A 39-year-old carjacking suspect was arrested early Tuesday, July 28, after leading police on a pursuit from Arlington to Grand Prairie, officials say.

A 39-year-old man is in custody after allegedly stealing a vehicle at gunpoint from an Arlington gas station early Tuesday and leading officers in a chase that ended in Grand Prairie.
According to police, an officer at a gas station near Interstate 20 and Park Springs Boulevard heard a commotion and saw a pickup truck leaving the area. A man flagged him down and reported his truck had just been stolen.
The man was parked at a gas pump when a stranger approached with a gun and told him to get out of the vehicle, police said. The suspect got in and headed east on I-20.
The officer put out a description of the truck, and police located it near Texas 360 and Camp Wisdom Road a short time later. The suspect refused to stop, according to police, and officers pursued the stolen vehicle into Grand Prairie.
The suspect crashed near the intersection of Camp Wisdom Road and Robinson Road and took off running into a wooded area. Grand Prairie police joined in the search, and the 39-year-old was arrested and booked into the Arlington City Jail. A handgun was found in the stolen pickup, police said.
Authorities have identified the carjacking suspect as Brandon Whisenant. He faces charges of one count of aggravated robbery and one count of evading arrest, police said.
