Funeral arrangements have been announced for Maxine Winkler Snapka, the beloved matriarch of Snapka’s Drive Inn, who died peacefully on July 26 at the age of 103.
Visitation will be held Friday, Aug. 7, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Maxwell P. Dunne Funeral Service – Morgan, 1222 Morgan Ave. in Corpus Christi.
A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 8, from 11 a.m. to noon at First United Methodist Church, located at 900 S. Shoreline Blvd.
Snapka was remembered by her family as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and businesswoman whose influence helped shape one of Corpus Christi’s best-known family restaurants. Alongside her husband, Method Snapka, she helped build Snapka’s Drive Inn into a longtime Coastal Bend favorite known for serving generations of customers.
Just days before her passing, the Corpus Christi City Council recognized Snapka’s Drive Inn with a commendation celebrating the restaurant’s 78 years of service to the community. The family-owned business has become a local institution, serving generations of Coastal Bend residents.
In addition to her impact on the restaurant industry, Snapka also leaves behind an educational legacy through an endowed scholarship at Del Mar College, where she graduated as valedictorian when the school was known as Corpus Christi Junior College.
The family announced Snapka’s passing in a social media post, saying they remember her with “deep sadness for a loved one lost, but profound gratitude for a life well lived.”
Community members who wish to pay their respects are invited to attend the visitation and funeral services next week.
