17 people detained during warrant execution at West Side home, police say

  • July 29, 2026

SAN ANTONIO – A warrant execution on the West Side led to five arrests on Tuesday, according to the San Antonio Police Department.

Around 9 a.m., officers and city officials arrived at a home in the 700 block of South San Bernardo Avenue, near South General McMullen, to execute a Dangerous Assessment Response Team (DART) warrant.

In a statement, the Office of the City Attorney said the warrant stemmed from an “ongoing investigation into documented history of serious and significant code violations,” along with multiple reports of criminal activity at the property.

The statement says the DART team had met with the property owner about the conditions at the property.

“Despite those efforts, the violations were not adequately corrected,” the city attorney’s office said.

Police said during the warrant execution, 17 people were detained “for further investigative purposes.”

Two of the people detained were the property owner and her son, the city attorney’s office said. Authorities also found eight grams of narcotics believed to be heroin.

Five of the 17 people were arrested for outstanding warrants, police said, including:

Family violence with prior conviction

Possession of a controlled substance pg1 4g to 200g

Theft enhancement

Parole Violation – drug related

Municipal court warrants

According to the city attorney’s office, the owner of the property said none of the people detained were tenants or had permission to be there. The department has not publicly identified those arrested.

The city’s Code Enforcement Division will refer the property to the Building Standards Board for review.

Additional information was not immediately available. The investigation is ongoing.
