EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – An El Paso man recently charged with voyeurism after allegedly following a woman into a public restroom has been accused of similar behavior before, according to a newly filed arrest affidavit. Court records allege 36-year-old Ivan Abraham Ponce has been linked to multiple incidents involving women in public restrooms dating back to 2017.
Ivan Abraham Ponce was arrested by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office for the incident that happened at a Circle K convenience store in the 12200 block of Eastlake Boulevard in June.
Man charged with voyeurism after allegedly following woman into restroom
Court document filed on July 23 revealed that Ponce was charged in connection with an incident that investigators say happened on March 20 at Rudy’s Country Store and Bar-B-Q on Gateway Boulevard East.
According to the affidavit, Ponce allegedly entered the women’s restroom and used his cell phone to photograph or record an 18-year-old woman while she was inside a restroom stall. Investigators allege the victim had reason to believe that Ponce held a phone over the stall she was in.
Authorities said the alleged victim was recording a TikTok video at the time and captured footage showing what appeared to be a cellphone pointed down into her stall. Detectives reviewed the video and said it corroborated the woman’s account.
The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office then looked into two previous cases filed by the El Paso Police Department that involved Ponce. Investigators stated those cases stemmed from incidents at the same Rudy’s restaurant in March 2025, including one in which a restaurant manager reported seeing a man looking through the crack of a restroom stall while she was using the bathroom.
According to the affidavit, the manager later identified Ponce through store surveillance footage and a credit card transaction showing a purchase made shortly before the incident. She also told investigators she recognized him when he later returned to the restaurant and allegedly targeted another woman.
Deputies documented that they identified Ponce using surveillance footage and law enforcement databases after recognizing him from a previous interaction at his workplace.
The affidavit also detailed prior police contacts involving similar allegations. One in 2017 where Ponce was referred to as a “Peeping Tom” after he reportedly looked into a woman’s restroom stall. Then in 2019, where he was accused of invasive visual recording. That investigation alleged Ponce recorded a woman from underneath a restroom stall at a Western Wear store.
According to investigators, the Rudy’s manager recognized Ponce after seeing news coverage and social media posts about his July arrest. They told detectives his behavior matched what she had witnessed during the earlier incidents.
Prosecutors are seeking charges in the case, according to court documents.
Ponce has been charged with invasive visual recording and voyeurism. He is currently being held at the El Paso County Detention Center and is expected to appear before a magistrate judge on Thursday, July 30 for a bond hearing.
