Fort Worth police said they’ll provide updates for two deadly shootings that happened the night of Saturday, July 25, and the morning of Sunday, July 26.
Police are investigating two separate officer-involved shootings that happened less than 24 hours apart, leaving two people dead in unrelated incidents.
The first shooting happened just after 8 p.m. Saturday in south Fort Worth along the South Freeway.
Police said officers were looking for someone with a felony warrant who was accused of tampering with an ankle monitor. Officers located the person and attempted a traffic stop, but police said the encounter turned into a pursuit.
According to police, the person eventually stopped in a parking lot and pulled out what officers believed was a gun. Officers then fired their weapons, killing the person.
The second shooting happened just after 6 a.m. Sunday in west Fort Worth.
Police said officers responded to a domestic violence call at an apartment complex after a man reportedly broke through the front door of an apartment and was fighting with a woman.
According to police, the man had a knife to his throat and walked toward officers without stopping after they gave commands. Police said officers then shot and killed him.
The two fatal officer-involved shootings, occurring within hours of each other, have left some people questioning what is happening in their neighborhoods.
