Back in 1980, Austin entrepreneurs set out to open a natural grocery store in the Texas capital, naming it Whole Founds Market. Today, the company is home to over 500 locations across 45 states and U.S. territories, including more than 30 here in Texas.
Now, Whole Foods is ramping up that Lone Star presence via its latest storefront slated for the Dallas-Fort Worth suburb of Southlake, located roughly 30 miles northwest of Dallas.
On deck is an approximately 35,807-square-foot Southlake Whole Foods, according to project filings registered with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation on Tuesday, July 28. Entailed in those documents is a project scope accounting for the construction of a retail shell building “for future tenant improvement,” specifically tying Whole Foods to the site.
Work on the project is anticipated to begin on August 3, 2026 and wrap on April 1, 2027, per TDLR documents. Construction on the shell of the upcoming store, located at 430 W. State Highway 114, Southlake, TX 76092, comes with an estimated cost of approximately $5.2 million. TDLR filings are preliminary estimates and both construction timelines and costs are subject to change.
The project documents follow an initial announcement in mid-June from Tradermark Property Company confirming its construction of Shivers Farm, a 40-acre mixed-use community slated for Southlake that will include the organic grocer.
In total, Shivers Farm will include 111,000 square feet of retail space, 38,000 square feet of boutique office space, 37 single-family lots as well as a three-acre site poised for future hotel, entertainment or retail uses.
