Lao’d District now serving Laotian food in Sugar Land

Lao’d District has opened a second location in Sugar Land, officials confirmed.

The restaurant serves Thai and Laotian dishes such as steamed fish, fried rice and a variety of curry options, according to its website. Thai tea and coffee are also available.

Benny & Hash now open in Montgomery

Benny & Hash officials said the eatery held its soft opening July 14 and is now offering breakfast and lunch in Montgomery.

For breakfast, the eatery offers traditional breakfast options including omelets, pancake dishes and breakfast tacos. Meanwhile, the eatery offers soups, salads and other dishes such as pot roast and shrimp and grits for lunch.

16 Handles now serving frozen yogurt in the Fulshear area

Frozen yogurt chain 16 Handles has opened a new location in the Fulshear area, officials announced in a July 14 news release.

The shop—which is owned by local husband-and-wife duo Min Lee and Chris So—offers 16 rotating flavors including classics like vanilla and chocolate as well as others such as french fry or cookies and cream, per the release. Patrons can also choose from 50 toppings and sauces to pair with their flavor of choice.

Latin-owned Eden Coffee & Tea now open in Jersey Village

Eden Coffee & Tea officials said the family-owned coffee shop is now serving the Jersey Village community. The shop serves specialty drinks made with homemade syrups and small bites made in-house.

“Eden was created from a desire to bring people together through quality coffee, meaningful conversations, and a place where our community feels at home,” officials said. “We are excited to open our doors and serve the people around us with love, excellence, and gratitude.”

Panera Bread sets reopening ribbon cutting date in Spring

According to Panera Bread officials, the franchise has plans to hold a ribbon-cutting grand opening event at its Spring location, which abruptly shut down last summer.

The Spring location is one of several locations reopening under Hamra Enterprises, per previous Community Impact reporting.

Hispanic-owned Big Bertha Barbeque serves Cy-Fair

As participants in the Houston Rodeo cook-off for 32 years, Big Bertha Barbeque owners Abel Nuncio and Adriana Nuncio said anyone can smoke barbecue. However, their passion for cooking and commitment to quality ingredients, paired with their famous baked beans, sets the eatery apart from other barbecue joints.

From competing in rodeo cook-offs to being a Cy-Fair favorite, Big Bertha Barbeque started as a catering company in the early ’90s and opened a brick-and-mortar location in the Cy-Fair area in 2019.

Aside from a personalized customer service experience, at Big Bertha, the Nuncios said customers can expect fresh barbecue smoked daily.
