A 20-year-old man who seriously injured a victim with a bat was arrested after a SWAT standoff in Watauga on Wednesday, police said.
Anthony Curtis Jr. faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, Watauga police said in a news release Thursday.
Wataguaga police officers responded to a report of an assault in the 6500 block of Ridglea Drive. When officers arrived, they found the victim in his driveway with head injuries, police said.
Police said that because of the severity of his condition, the victim was only able to provide limited information about the assailant.
The victim was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, police said.
Officers searched the area and found that the man had run into a nearby house, and a perimeter was established to secure the area, police said.
Police said that because they believed the man was still inside, they requested assistance from the North Richland Hills SWAT team.
Officers found Curtis, who had outstanding warrants, and recovered a bat thought to have been used during the assault, police said. He was taken into custody without incident and taken to jail.
