BENBROOK – Steven Brian Thomas, lovingly known as Steve, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at the age of 66. Funeral Service: 1 pm. Monday, Aug. 3, 2026, at Calvary Church. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Steve was born on Nov. 4, 1959, in Fort Worth, Texas, to James and Virginia Thomas. He was raised in Fort Worth alongside his sisters, Debbie and Denise, and enjoyed an active childhood filled with sports. He graduated from Western Hills High School in 1978. After high school, Steve worked in the grocery industry before starting his own business, Texxan Construction, a business he took great pride in building. In 1979, Steve married his high school sweetheart, Melinda, beginning a loving partnership that spanned nearly five decades. Together they raised two daughters, and a son creating a home centered on love, laughter, and family. Steve had a lifelong love of sports, whether cheering on his favorite teams or coaching his son’s teams through the years. Above all, he cherished being “Paps” to his nine grandchildren. They were the joy of his life, and he never missed an opportunity to cheer them on, celebrate their accomplishments, or simply enjoying spending time with them. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, James and Virginia Thomas; his sister, Denise Thomas; and his father-in-law, David Wagner. He is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Melinda Thomas; his daughters, Jennifer Pope and husband, Andrew Pope, Stephanie Houlihan and husband, Patrick Houlihan; his son, Zachary Thomas; his beloved grandchildren, Boston Borg, Ella Reese Borg, Lennon Pope, Clara Pope, Ainsley Houlihan, Sawyer Houlihan, Lawson Houlihan, Brayden Thomas, Ty Thomas; his sister, Debbie Beyea; his mother in law, Mary Ann Wagner; and many other cherished family members and dear friends who will miss him deeply. Steve will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his strong work ethic, his generous heart, and the kindness he showed to others.
