A popular Japanese clothing brand is opening its first store in San Antonio.
Uniqlo plans to open a 16,011-square-foot location at North Star Mall, 7400 San Pedro Ave., according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The brand plans to begin $2.3 million in renovations on the space in March next year and complete work by July. Details in state filings are preliminary and subject to change without notice.

Uniqlo, known for high-quality yet affordable basics, has been expanding in Texas since 2024, debuting at Houston’s Memorial City Mall. It’s since opened locations in Dallas, Frisco, Arlington and Sugar Land and plans to open two more stores, in Austin’s Barton Creek Square and Houston’s Galleria.
The rollout is part of Uniqlo’s plan to reach 200 North American stores by 2027, expanding beyond its established coastal markets.
Several Japanese brands have been making their way to San Antonio.
Daiso, a Japan-based discount and lifestyle retailer, opened in San Antonio’s Alamo Ranch in 2024 and quickly added three more stores throughout the metro area. Teslo Life, a New York-based brand specializing in Japanese snacks, cosmetics and household goods, also opened last year on San Antonio’s Northwest Side.
