CIUDAD JUAREZ, MEXICO (KFOX14/CBS4) — Ciudad Juárez is preparing to honor its most beloved musical icon with the return of the “Juárez Juangabrielísimo Cultural Festival”, a weeklong celebration dedicated to the life, music and legacy of Juan Gabriel.

The festival is scheduled to take place Aug. 21-29, 2026, bringing music, art and cultural events to the border city that the legendary singer-songwriter proudly called home.

City officials announced the festival’s return on social media, saying residents and visitors can once again experience a celebration of “the legacy of the Divo de Juárez and the essence of this border community.”

While organizers have not yet released the full schedule, they said details about the festival’s activities will be announced soon. The event is expected to feature a variety of performances and cultural experiences inspired by Juan Gabriel, one of Mexico’s most celebrated entertainers.

Juan Gabriel, born Alberto Aguilera Valadez, remains one of Latin America’s most influential performers. Although born in Michoacán, he was raised in Ciudad Juárez, where he launched his career and earned the nickname “El Divo de Juárez.” His music continues to draw fans from both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border.

Officials are encouraging the public to mark their calendars for the festival, promising that “the best is yet to come” as more announcements are made in the coming weeks.
