New Braunfels continues to cement its status as one of America’s fastest-growing cities. A new mid-year report from moving company MovingPlace found that New Braunfels’ 78130 ZIP code recorded the highest total move volume of any ZIP code in the country during the first half of 2026, with 2,930 residential moves between January and June.
The report analyzed more than 5.29 million residential moves nationwide using proprietary relocation data from Porch Group. Researchers ranked ZIP codes by total move volume, moves per capita and year-over-year growth.
New Braunfels led the national rankings in total moves, outpacing rapidly growing communities such as McKinney, Leander, Katy and Pflugerville.
According to the report, New Braunfels’ continued popularity is fueled by its location between Austin and San Antonio, steady residential development and relatively affordable housing compared with larger neighboring cities. The report also cited expanding infrastructure and the city’s growing inventory of newer homes as factors attracting relocating families.
“New Braunfels ranked as the top ZIP code nationally by total move count in the first half of 2026, seeing almost 3,000 new moves and demonstrating the continued strength of the Central Texas growth corridor,” the report states.
The city’s 78130 ZIP code has an estimated population of 95,787, a median household income of $83,064, and a median home price of $296,300, according to the report.
Texas dominated the rankings overall, claiming eight of the nation’s top 10 ZIP codes by total move volume. Statewide, researchers recorded more than 512,500 residential moves in the first six months of the year, the most of any state in the country.
Daniel Cobb, senior editor at MovingPlace, said the findings reflect continued migration into fast-growing suburban communities surrounding major Texas metros.
“The biggest trend of total moves in the country is the continued expansion of major Sun Belt metros into surrounding suburbs,” Cobb said in the report. “Texas dominates the list, with communities around Dallas, Austin, Houston and San Antonio capturing strong demand as households seek newer homes, more space and relative affordability while remaining connected to major job markets.”
The latest ranking adds to a string of growth milestones for New Braunfels, which has consistently ranked among the nation’s fastest-growing cities and continues to see major residential, retail and commercial development along the I-35 corridor.
