Week-long awareness campaign aims to keep the unsolved case in the public eye and encourage anyone with information to come forward.
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — 37 years after 13-year-old Elisa Roberson disappeared in Aransas Pass, her family is returning to the Coastal Bend to honor her memory and raise awareness about her unsolved case.
Elisa’s mother, Marina Roberson, and sister, Ruby, will travel from Idaho to Aransas Pass Aug. 3-7 for a week-long awareness campaign organized with Light the Way Missing Persons Advocacy Project, the Gabby Petito Foundation and local community partners. The goal is to keep Elisa’s story in the public eye and encourage anyone with information to come forward.
The campaign will feature a community “Honk & Wave” awareness event near the Aransas Pass Police Department, a remembrance walk following the route Elisa took the day she disappeared and coffee sleeves featuring her case at Sip Happens Coffee Shop throughout the week.
According to organizers, Elisa disappeared on Aug. 6, 1989, after leaving her home to meet a friend at a nearby elementary school. She never arrived.
Investigators said bloodhounds tracked her scent from her home to the intersection of 8th Street and Goodnight Avenue, where it abruptly ended. Authorities have long believed Elisa willingly got into a vehicle driven by someone she knew before she was abducted.
Despite decades of investigations by local, state and federal agencies, Elisa has never been found.
Her family hopes the week’s events will honor Elisa’s memory, encourage people to share her story and inspire anyone with information about her disappearance to come forward.
