After what some worry may be a true random shooting, two men are in a hospital Saturday after being confronted on a Northwest Houston street.

The two men were walking along West Tidwell St. near Antoine eating ice cream when a car pulled up to them, the told investigators.

They said they didn’t recognize the four people in the car, one of whom opened fire on the two walkers, who were hit by bullets — one man in the arm, the other in the stomach.

Police and EMS were called, with the two men rushed to a hospital, both of them in stable condition, according to the Houston Police Department, with one investigator saying they found a man who may have been in the car at the time of the shooting.

He’s being questioned, and it’s hoped he can lead officers to the identifies of the others in the car.

So far, though, it does appear the shooter and the people in the car do not know the men they shot, so it’s important for investigators to find out why these people decided to shoot and potentially kill two strangers.
