More than a month after leaving KPRC 2, Brittany Begley announced Tuesday that she has launched a Substack newsletter, taking her forecasts directly to readers while expanding into lifestyle and wellness content.

“I’m super excited to create my very own Substack,” Begley wrote on Instagram. “Not to mention, I can now send you weather alerts straight to your phone again!”

“We’re past the whispers from my zippers. My zippers have come to a full stop while our temperatures continue to climb to triple digits this week too,” Begley wrote.

The newsletter features Houston weather forecasts, sunrise times for runners, workout gear recommendations and personal updates alongside meteorology.

Begley said she decided to publicly share her weight of 145 pounds as a way to hold herself accountable.

“I stared at the number in shock this morning—but I’m proud,” she wrote. “Posting your weight publicly takes courage: to face yourself, stay transparent, and lean on the community after gaining 15 pounds since moving to Houston.”

“But what can I say?! The food here is incredible—best city I’ve ever lived in for food,” Begley wrote, adding that she’s cutting back on frozen espresso martinis while taking up running again despite the Texas heat.

The post cites advice from a wellness coach and references Taste of Home, saying replacing frozen espresso martinis with lower-calorie alternatives could reduce annual calorie intake enough to lose an estimated 7 to 12 pounds.

Begley said the newsletter reflects interests she’s long had as a meteorologist.

“As a meteorologist, I’ve always been obsessed with lifestyle, health, and weather,” she wrote. “It’s niche, but I love going deep on topics that become fascinating through pattern recognition.”

The launch comes after Begley’s June departure from KPRC 2. After announcing she was no longer with the station, Begley later alleged in a series of Instagram posts that she had been fired after raising concerns about what she described as problems inside the newsroom. Those posts have since been deleted. KPRC has not responded to Chron’s requests for comment about those allegations.
