The City of Corpus Christi is asking residents to share their priorities and ideas as leaders begin developing the next city budget through community meetings.

The City of Corpus Christi is asking residents to help shape the future of the city by sharing their priorities and ideas during a series of upcoming budget input sessions.

City leaders say community feedback will play an important role as they begin preparing the next budget and deciding how funding should be allocated across city services and projects.

This story continues below.

The first community meeting is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 3, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Oveal Williams Senior Center on Martin Luther King Drive. The session will focus on residents who live in District 1.

During the meetings, residents will have the opportunity to ask questions, share concerns and provide input directly to city staff members. Officials say these conversations are designed to give community members a voice in the budget process before decisions are finalized.

City staff will be available during the sessions to answer questions and discuss how different priorities could impact the city’s spending plan. The mayor and members of the Corpus Christi City Council may also attend some of the meetings to hear directly from residents.

The city says these discussions are an opportunity for residents to share what matters most to them, whether that includes infrastructure, public safety, neighborhood improvements, city services or other community needs.

Additional budget meetings are expected to take place across the city in the coming weeks, giving more residents a chance to participate.

Residents who are unable to attend the first session can follow the city’s updates for information about future opportunities to provide feedback on the upcoming budget.
