Dallas County investigators say a man forged documents to steal three properties weeks before their owner died. He now faces felony forgery and theft charges.
DALLAS — A Dallas County man has been arrested after investigators say he used forged documents to transfer ownership of three properties to himself just weeks before the rightful owner’s death.
The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office said detectives began investigating the case on July 30 after being contacted about three properties on Riverwood Road in Dallas County that had allegedly been stolen through deed fraud.

According to the sheriff’s office, the investigation stemmed from a separate illegal dumping case. The Dallas City Marshals Office and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality’s Environmental Crimes Unit were investigating dumping on the properties when TCEQ investigators alerted the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office to possible fraud involving the ownership of the land.
The district attorney’s office then contacted the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division.
Investigators later spoke with Shannon Bleau, the granddaughter of property owner William Thompson. Bleau told detectives the properties belonged to her grandfather and that the alleged forgery occurred in April 2023, about three weeks before Thompson died.
According to the sheriff’s office, detectives determined that 59-year-old Kyle Scott Boyd forged documents transferring ownership of Thompson’s properties to himself.
Detectives arrested Boyd at his residence on July 28 and booked him into the Dallas County Jail.

The investigation remains ongoing. As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations, and Boyd is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
