Lauren Crawford announced Monday that she is leaving her reporting role at CBS News Texas in Dallas-Fort Worth, sharing an emotional farewell on social media but stopping short of revealing where she’ll go next.
“Three years, countless stories, and more memories than I could ever fit into one post,” Crawford wrote.
She reflected on the opportunity to report in the community where she grew up, calling it “the greatest honor and privilege” to serve her hometown market. Crawford thanked her CBS News Texas colleagues and viewers who welcomed her into their homes each morning, saying she’ll carry the memories and friendships with her as she closes the chapter “with a very full heart” and looks ahead to what’s next.
Crawford has not yet announced her next destination.
She joined CBS News Texas in July 2023 after returning to the Lone Star State. A Fort Worth native who grew up in Keller, Crawford is a third-generation Texas Christian University Horned Frog. While at TCU, Crawford worked closely with former head football coach Gary Patterson and interviewed recruits during the program’s summer football camps.
Crawford is the latest on-air personality to leave CBS News Texas in recent months. In June, meteorologist Jeff Ray retired after 16 years at the station and more than four decades in broadcasting to start a truck farm in Tennessee. Earlier this year, in March, reporter and fill-in anchor Nicole Nielsen left the station to join KPRC 2 in Houston.
