SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A major win for the San Antonio Spurs as Bexar County voters pass two propositions aimed at moving ahead with a new Downtown sports and entertainment district.

Officials say all 285 Bexar County voting centers have posted their results from Tuesday’s election.

Proposition A, which would allocate $192 million for upgrades to the rodeo grounds on San Antonio’s East Side, passed with just over 56% voting in support of the effort.

Proposition B, which would have Bexar County contributing up to $311 million toward the $1.3 billion estimated cost of a new arena for the San Antonio Spurs, passed with 53% of the vote. The remaining funding would come from the city and the Spurs.

The passage of both propositions will mean an increase in Bexar County’s hotel and car rental taxes. Officials have said those increases will help pay for the two projects.

Bexar County Elections Administrator Michele Carew says of the county’s nearly 1.3 million registered voters, 248,428 cast ballots.

Meaning a voter turnout of 19.31%
