Get that resume freshened up: The North Texas Job Fair is scheduled for Aug. 6.

The annual event, hosted by U.S. Rep. Beth Van Duyne, an Irving Republican, will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m at Globe Life Field in Arlington. The job fair is expected to draw around 650 organizations hiring for 66,000 jobs, Van Duyne said.

Businesses that will be there include major Dallas-Fort Worth area employers such as Bell Textron, Lockheed Martin, John Peter Smith Health Network, Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, AT&T and Kroger.

The jobs span the agriculture, automotive, education, finance, government, healthcare, hospitality, information technology, law enforcement, real estate and retail industries, among others, according to the fair’s website.

“There are people who are hiring on the spot, and it’s a great place for employers to look at a vast number of potential hires,” Van Duyne said. “And it’s a great place for people who are looking for a job to find their next career.”

Last year’s event drew more than 35,000 attendees, according to Van Duyne’s office.

The fair, which is free to attend, started in 2021 as a way to help Texans get jobs around the time of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Its partners include North Texas elected officials, local chambers of commerce and universities.

“It’s amazing to think that something that started off as just an idea that we were going to do one year has turned into such a massive event,” Van Duyne said.
