Alex McCoy continues to flex his muscles.

The 6-foot-5-, 260-pound outfielder homered twice in the first game of a scheduled doubleheader as high Single-A Fort Wayne swept Great Lakes on Sunday.

An undrafted free agent who signed in July 2024, McCoy is up to 15 home runs in this first season with the TinCaps.

He hit two home runs in in the completion of a game that began on Saturday and was 0-for-1 with a walk and a run scored in a game the TinCaps led 6-2 in the fifth inning of a suspended Game 2.

McCoy is hitting .271/.353/.481 with 53 RBIs and 19 steals in 91 games with the TinCaps. He hit .315/.393/.521 with seven homers and 14 steals in 58 games last year between rookie ball and low Single-A Lake Elsinore.

Albuquerque 10, Chihuahuas 5: RHP David Morgan (knee) was up to 97.9 mph and threw 12 of his 15 pitches for strikes while allowing one hit to start a rehab assignment. He didn’t strike out or walk anyone. LHP Jackson Wolf (5-10, 7.05 ERA) allowed eight runs in four innings in the loss. C Blake Hunt (1.024 OPS) went 3-for-4 with his eighth homer.

 

DOUBLE-A SAN ANTONIO (45-57)

Amarillo 7, Missions 6 (10): RF Braedon Karpathios (.717 OPS) went 3-for-5 with his 11th homer. LF Jake Cunningham (.814 OPS) hit his fourth with San Antonio and 19th of the season. LHP Jamie Hitt (7.41 ERA) allowed three runs in four innings. RHP Clay Edmondson (11.17 ERA) and LHP Igor Gil (0.00 ERA) both threw two scoreless innings. RHP Tucker Musgrove (0-2, 3.27 ERA) allowed an unearned run in extra innings.

 

HIGH SINGLE-A FORT WAYNE (45-55)

TinCaps 12, Great Lakes 5: McCoy drove in two three runs on his two blasts. 1B Jack Costello (.767 OPS) went 3-for-3 with his 12th homer. SS Justin DeCriscio (.811 OPS) and 3B Zach Evans (.594 OPS) both drove in two runs.

 

LOW SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (54-48)

Storm 5, Stockton 3: LF Conner Westenburg (.705 OPS) went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. DH Jorge Quintana (.676 OPS) went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
