EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Seven people were arrested as part of “Operation Adam’s Watch,” which was conducted by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Registration and Tracking (SORT) Unit, in partnership with the U.S. Marshals Service.

The operation consisted of conducting home and workplace compliance checks for registered sex offenders required to report to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.

The SORT Unit is responsible for monitoring registered sex offenders who reside in the unincorporated areas of El Paso County outside the city limits of El Paso.

Throughout the operation, deputies conducted 398 home verifications, 54 workplace verifications, and 33 follow-up investigations. As a result of those investigations, SORT deputies generated two arrest warrants for violations of sex offender registration requirements.

The operation also resulted in the following arrests:

Tommy Jay McCorkle, 44, for Failure to Comply with Sex Offender Registration Requirements. Bond: No Bond.Keith Baker, 35, for Failure to Comply with Sex Offender Registration Requirements. Bond: No Bond.Bobby McGilveary, 64, for Failure to Comply with Sex Offender Registration Requirements. Bond: No Bond.Wesley Frye, 48, for a Parole Violation. Bond: No Bond.Ronnie Wayne Padgett, 60, for a Parole Violation (Indecency with a Child by Contact). Bond: No Bond.Alberto Lujan, 34, for Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child Under 14. Bond: $110,000.Sydney Bryant, 52, for a Parole Violation (Indecency with a Child by Contact). Bond: No Bond.

Sheriff Oscar Ugarte emphasized the importance of compliance checks and proactive enforcement to protect the community.

Operations like Adam’s Watch help us verify compliance, identify violations, and hold offenders accountable. Through proactive enforcement and our continued partnership with the U.S. Marshals Service, we remain committed to protecting the residents of El Paso County.”
