Plano police arrested Paul Campbell, a 64-year-old resident of Dallas and elementary school teacher who is accused of sexual abuse of a student.

The parents of a Plano ISD student are suing the district, campus principal and teacher after they say their daughter was sexually abused by a teacher and the district ignored reports of abuse.
The suit says the district and Brinker Elementary Principal Jennifer King failed to protect a minor child from sexual abuse by Paul Campbell, a former second grade teacher at Brinker Elementary.
“Jane and John Doe trusted Defendant Plano ISD and Defendant King to provide a safe, nurturing environment, and to staff teachers who were good role models and mentors not sexual predators,” the suit said.
According to the lawsuit, King received at least one report that Campbell inappropriately touched a female student and did not report it to law enforcement.
The lawsuit also says that King denied a transfer of a student out of Campbell’s class from parents who believed the sexual abuse allegations.
The parents of the student who says she was sexually abused by Campbell are seeking $1 million.
“As a direct and proximate result of King’s failures to report and/or investigate, Campbell remained in his teaching position at Brinker with unfettered access to second-grade girls, enabling the continued sexual abuse of Janie Doe and other girls during the 2025–2026 school year and increasing the duration and extent of harm to victims,” the suit said.
Police arrested Campbell for continuous sexual abuse of a child on July 8. On July 27, Campbell was charged with three additional counts of indecency with a child after more victims came forward. Campbell remains in the Collin County Jail.
Plano ISD did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
