SAN ANTONIO – Police say two girls, ages 10 and 13, were recovered in Houston after investigators alleged they were taken from their home without their mother’s consent and transported out of Bexar County.

According to an arrest-warrant affidavit from a detective in the San Antonio Police Department’s Sex Crimes Unit, 48-year-old Pedro Javier Alvarez Castillo and 24-year-old Dary Ayvan Palacio Alvarez, a Honduran national, have both been charged with the kidnapping of 10-year-old Fidely and 13-year-old Neidy Alvarez Mauricio.

The affidavit says that on Aug. 1, 2026, the girls’ mother reported that her 10-year-old daughter left the family’s home through a window and got into a vehicle with a suspect, who then took the child to Houston without the mother’s consent.

The mother, identified in the affidavit as the reporting person, told investigators she previously dated Alvarez Castillo about six years ago when they lived in Honduras, but had not had contact or communication with him for the last six years.

The reporting person said that on July 31, 2026, at about 11 p.m., she was at home in the 1200 block of Logwood Avenue in San Antonio when one of her sons told her the 10-year-old and her 13-year-old sister had left the residence and gotten into an unknown vehicle.

The reporting person said she called another daughter who lives in Ohio, who told her she had been communicating with Alvarez Castillo and that he said he had both girls in Houston.

The affidavit says the reporting person then logged into the 13-year-old’s Facebook account and found what she described as concerning messages between Alvarez Castillo and the 13-year-old.

The affidavit states the 13-year-old had been communicating with the suspect, and that he replied that he wanted to see her. The affidavit also states that Alvarez Castillo said several times he wanted to come pick up both girls.

Investigators later learned the name and phone number of Palacio Alvarez from a cousin of Palacio Alvarez, according to the affidavit. The cousin told the reporting person that Palacio Alvarez had the girls.

Detective R. Guerrero spoke with Palacio Alvarez by phone, the affidavit states. Palacio Alvarez told the detective he had been told by Alvarez Castillo that the girls were being physically abused by the reporting person and that he needed to go to San Antonio to pick them up and take them to Houston.

Palacio Alvarez said he went to San Antonio, picked up both girls and drove them to Houston, where he dropped them off at Alvarez Castillo’s apartment in the 6200 block of W. Bellfort Ave. in Houston, according to the affidavit.

The affidavit says Palacio Alvarez later contacted the reporting person and claimed he was returning the girls to San Antonio, but investigators said that “ultimately proved untrue.” Houston officers conducting surveillance later observed the defendants arrive at the Houston apartment with the girls and go inside, the affidavit states.

SAPD coordinated with the Houston Police Department, which began surveillance at the apartment, according to the affidavit. Officers later observed Alvarez Castillo and the girls in the parking lot and identified them using photographs provided by SAPD. The affidavit states the suspects left in separate vehicles, with Alvarez Castillo driving with the 13-year-old and Palacio Alvarez driving with the 10-year-old.

A traffic stop was initiated, and the girls were recovered and the suspects detained, according to the affidavit.

The affidavit states the reporting person identified Alvarez Castillo in a single-photo lineup, and that Palacio Alvarez was identified through a Honduran passport in his possession.

The detective requested an arrest warrant for Alvarez Castillo, alleging that on or about July 31, 2026, in Bexar County, he “intentionally directed the abduction” of another person.
