EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — “I killed my mom… come pick me up,” the 911 caller said Saturday, leading El Paso police to a South Central home where a woman was found dead on the kitchen floor and the arrest of her 30-year-old son.

Juan Valles Valenzuela was arrested after he allegedly stabbed his mother to death. The affidavit says that at about 1:45 p.m. Saturday, Valenzuela called authorities and confessed.

The alleged matricide happened in the 300 block of Cargill Street, according to the affidavit. Responding officers said that when they arrived and took Valenzuela into custody, they found his mother lifeless on the kitchen floor with multiple puncture wounds. A bloody knife was next to her body, officers said.

After the arrest, detectives interviewed Valenzuela at police headquarters, where he reportedly agreed to tell investigators what happened. Valenzuela told investigators he had been asleep when his mother returned from picking up groceries and that he woke up and went to the kitchen to help her. While in the kitchen, he said, his mother “dropped the sodas in the sink” and began to yell. He told investigators he tried to help her, but she became angry, which he said “triggered” him. He then told investigators he grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed her in the neck multiple times.

Valenzuela also told investigators he called friends afterward to tell them it would be the last time he would talk to them, the affidavit said.

Detectives spoke with one of Valenzuela’s friends, who also called 911 after speaking with him, according to the affidavit.

Valenzuela told the friend, “I killed someone.” The friend told detectives he responded by telling Valenzuela not to joke about that, especially after hearing from another friend that Valenzuela had been “suicidal.”

Valenzuela then asked the friend, “Guess who I killed?” the affidavit said. The friend replied, “Please tell me you did not kill your mom.” Valenzuela then reportedly admitted to killing his mother and said he had felt nothing.
